Data handling(mean,mode median,range)Notes
Data Handling
Data :-
- Data means information.
- All kinds of information in the unorganized form is called data.
- Collection of information is called data.
Data handling :-
- Handling means to organize the data
- Arranging the information or values of data in different ways with proper manner to obtain a proper meaning is called data handling.
example-
Marks of 10 students in a maths test is given as
23,35,48,30,25,46,13,27,32,38
(from the given data we can't any meaning that which students scored how much marks)
if we will arrange the data such a way that
Here we can easily recognise the marks of different students according to their roll no.
It is called data arrangement.
Frequency of observation:-
The number of time one observation occures in a data is called frequency of observation.
ex. in a data
the age of 10 students is given as
14,15,16,13,18,15,16,14,12,15
In this given data the number 15 comes 3 times. hence we can say, in the data the frequency of 15 is 3.
Mean of data:-
- Mean means average.
total no. of data value
Mode of data:-
The mode is the number that appear more often than an number.
for example,
Here is the data of ages of 10 students,
22,26,18,26,28,25,15,26,17,24
In the above observation 26 appears maximum times that is three times. Hence here mode is 26.
Median:-
Median are the middle number when the numbers are in order.
let your numbers are : 9,7,3,6,10,4,1
Firstly, you must put them in order.
1,3,4,6,7,9,10
Here the middle number is 6. Hence the median is 6.
Range:-
The range is the difference between the smallest and largest number.
let take one observation,
15,17,18,22,24,25,26,26,28
Here range =highest -lowest
= 28-15
=13
